Earn a Chartered Tax Credential in 2 Easy Steps
Step 1:
Successfully complete the Surgent Income Tax School courses required in either of the two Chartered Tax Certificate Programs.
A minimum cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher is required for the Chartered Tax Certificate Program. Our students average 90% and higher.
Step 2:
Meet the experience requirement for your selected certificate program.
After completing (or successfully testing out of) the beginner, Comprehensive tax course, you’ll have the knowledge to prepare individual tax returns for almost all U.S. taxpayers, and you can start working toward your experience requirement. Plus, you’ll start earning money.
No Experience Necessary
Both of our Chartered Tax Certificate Programs take you from beginner to expert. No prior tax or accounting knowledge is required and minimal computer skills are needed. You should have a high school diploma or the equivalent, the ability to comprehend income tax regulations, and good people skills to interact effectively with taxpayers.
Earn As You Learn
Surgent Income Tax School’s nationally recognized tax certificate programs are unique because they enable you to start earning income preparing tax returns for most U.S. taxpayers after successfully completing the first course.
