Richmond-based Peoples Income Tax, Inc., announced the debut this month of an online version of its Comprehensive Income Tax Course, and approval by the California Tax Education Council (CTEC), according to Charles E. McCabe, President & CEO.
Peoples was approved last month as a CTEC Provider authorized to offer Qualifying and Continuing Education (both contact and Self-Study format), required for tax preparers to become licensed and to continue to practice in California. (California and Oregon are the only states in the Nation that require tax preparers to be licensed and meet professional education requirements.) Nearly 400 California students are currently enrolled in Peoples’ Online Federal & California Comprehensive Income Tax Course.
The Company has operated Peoples Income Tax School since 1989 as a proprietary career school licensed by the Virginia Department of Education. The school is also approved to provide Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for CPAs, attorneys and IRS Enrolled Agents. Peoples Income Tax School publishes its own student texts and instructor guides for its unique Comprehensive, Advanced and Small Business tax education programs. Since 1993 Peoples has also licensed its income tax school systems to independent tax professionals and colleges nationwide. Currently, Peoples supports more than 300 tax practitioner licensees in more than 40 states.
Peoples’ plans to make its Advanced and Small Business courses available next fall via the Internet.
“Online tax course delivery and California approval will enable Peoples to serve a key segment of the large tax professional education market in California from our headquarters here in Richmond,” said McCabe.” “We will also train students Nationwide in Federal income tax preparation via the Internet,” he added.
