I am excited and honored to announce that I have been named among Accounting Today’s 2016 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting. Each year, Accounting Today names the top 100 “thought leaders, visionaries, regulators, and others who are shaping the profession.” This is the 4th year I’ve been included in this prestigious list. ITS CEO, Chuck McCabe, named among the Accounting Today 2016 Top 100 Most Influential People
Charles E. “Chuck” McCabe, Founder, President and CEO of Richmond, VA-based The Income Tax School, Inc., was named among the Accounting Today 2016 Top 100 Most Influential People. Accounting Today noted, “As a veteran in the tax preparation industry, McCabe had the vision to offer support to other tax business owners who opt to remain independent by providing them with tax education and business skills so they can be successful on their own,”
The Income Tax School was founded by McCabe in 1989 originally to train tax preparers for employment with Peoples Income Tax, Inc., which McCabe founded in 1987. Realizing the need for independent tax business owners to use this best practice, in 1990 McCabe made his tax school system available to tax businesses nationwide. He also developed a set of tax practice management manuals in Tax Office Operations, Personnel, Marketing and Expansion to enable independent tax business owners to operate systematically on a level playing field with the national tax firms.
Previously, McCabe had been with H&R Block for 19+ years. He was Regional Director for the H&R Block Mid-Atlantic and, subsequently, New York City Regions overseeing some 225 offices through 21 district managers. He also served as Chief Operating Officer for the 125 office Virginia Block franchise and was co-owner and director of the H&R Block franchise for Brazil that operated four tax offices in Sao Paulo.
McCabe earned a BS–Summa cum Laude–in Management & Communications from Adelphi University and an Executive MBA from Pace University where he also completed 2 years of doctoral studies in business (ABD). He has been a national conference and webinar presenter for NATP, NSA and Accounting Today and has taught courses in business management at Hofstra University and Virginia Commonwealth University. He is author of numerous articles on tax practice management and is co-author of two books on adult college education published by Petersons, Princeton, NJ.
McCabe served on the IRS Electronic Tax Advisory Committee. He is founding chair of the Virginia Council of CEOs and was board chair of the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia. He served on the Dean’s Advisory Board of the University of Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies and the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board of State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. He is also a member of Leadership Metro Richmond.

ITS is certified by the State Education Council for Virginia (SCHEV) as a proprietary career school.
